Volunteers Needed…

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The Jasper County Board of Commissions has a need for citizen volunteers who are willing and able to serve their community as members of the Jasper County Recreation Board.

The Board of Commissioners will be making appointments at their November 5, 2018 regular meeting at 6 o’clock p.m.

Anyone interested in serving should submit a letter of interest with qualifications not later than Friday, October 26, 2018 by Noon with contact information to Sharon S. Robinson, County Clerk in the Jasper County Board of Commission office at 126 West Greene Street, Ste 18.

Hurricane Michael Weather Information…

Hurricane Michael is expected to impact Jasper County and surrounding areas beginning approximately 11:00 p.m. tonight and winding down around 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Wind gusts are forecasted in the 40-60 mph range with total rainfall amounts ranging from 3” to 5”.

Due to the impending storm conditions:  The Jasper County Courthouse, Senior Center, Animal Shelter, Recreation, Extension, and Health Department will be closed all day tomorrow, Thursday, October 11, 2018.

Recreation Rain Out communication will be provided by 3:00 p.m. for evening activities.

Plans are to re-open at normal hours on Friday, October 12th

All Public Safety Departments, including Fire Rescue, Sheriff’s Office, and Public Works will continue with Emergency Operations. Landfill Operations will be open to receive storm debris.

Public Hearing Notice…

Jasper County is considering applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for a Community Development Block Grant of up to $750,000 for the purpose of improving the Jasper County Health Department. These funds must be used to primarily benefit low- and moderate- income persons.

The activities for which these funds may be used are in the areas of housing, public facilities, and economic development. More specific details regarding eligible activities, plans to assist displaced persons (if any), the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for activities to benefit low- and moderate- income persons, and the rating system will be provided at a public hearing which will be held at the Jasper County Historic Courthouse Small Courtroom at 126 W. Greene Street Monticello, GA 31064 on October 15, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain citizen input into the development of the application. Jasper County is committed to providing all persons with equal access to its services, programs, activities, education and employment regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability or age. Persons with special needs relating to handicapped accessibility or foreign language should contact Mike Benton, County Manager prior to October 15, 2018. This person can be located at 126 W. Jasper County is accepting applications for a Building Inspector.  This position is to ensure compliance with County, State, Federal, and International codes and regulations.  Employee must possess a superior knowledge and experience base in building inspection and be able to work with contractors and home owners, to ensure that codes are met.  For a full job description and application, please come by the Human Resources Department on the basement floor in the Courthouse. Deadline to apply is 4:00 pm on October 5, 2018

A Message From The Tax Assessor’s Office…

IMPORTANT! PROPERTY REVIEW INFORMATION
As required by the Department of Revenue, property reviews will be conducted on a rotational basis throughout our county each year. The properties being reviewed for the 2019 tax year rotation are in the following map numbers: M01, M02, M03, M04, M05A, M05B, M05C, M05C, M05D, M06, M07, M08 and 034. The map number is the first part of your parcel number. Our appraisers will have identification on their vehicles and will identify themselves upon arrival to the property. Additionally, reviews will be conducted for properties with permits, properties that have sold recently or have exemption applications. If there are any concerns regarding these visits, please contact our office.
